The story of Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David has come to an end once again. Paramount+ and CBS Studios confirmed on Friday that “NCIS: Tony & Ziva” will not return for a second season. The decision closes the door on the short-lived spinoff after only one season.

The show reunited Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo in their famous “NCIS” roles. It was set years after both characters left the main series and followed their lives as a family.

For many fans, the series was a long-awaited chance to see Tony and Ziva together again after more than a decade away from the franchise.

Weatherly and de Pablo addressed the cancellation in a joint statement. “We feel incredibly lucky to have had the chance to play these characters once again and to tell the next chapter of Tony and Ziva’s story,” they said.

“Our deepest thanks go to our extraordinary cast, crew, writers, directors, and producers, and to our partners at CBS Studios and Paramount+. But most of all, we want to thank the fans around the world who joined us on this adventure and finally got to see Tony and Ziva find their happily ever after.”

The series launched on Paramount+ on September 4 with a total of 10 episodes. Early numbers were strong, but interest faded quickly. According to viewing data from Luminate, the show lost about half of its audience within the first three episodes. That sharp decline appears to have influenced the decision to cancel it.

Alongside Weatherly and de Pablo, the show featured Amita Suman, Maximilian Osinski, Julian Ovenden, Nassima Benchicou, Lara Rossi, Isla Gie, Terence Maynard, and James D’Arcy. The story followed Tony and Ziva as they raised their daughter while dealing with new threats after Tony’s security business was attacked, forcing the family to go on the run across Europe.
