Paramount+ will be the exclusive home for the new animated film The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, which will no longer hit theaters in October 2026, according to sources. Along with the film, the new animated series Avatar: Safe Havens will also debut on the streamer. Both projects are being produced by Avatar Studios, the division under Nickelodeon created in 2021 to expand the world of Avatar and The Legend of Korra.

The Legend of Aang feature has assembled a notable voice cast including Taika Waititi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Dee Bradley Baker, Peta Sergeant, Freida Pinto, and Ke Huy Quan, joining previously announced actors such as Dave Bautista, Eric Nam, Jessica Matten, Dionne Quan, Román Zaragoza, and Steven Yeun.

The film is directed by Lauren Montgomery, with Steve Ahn and William Mata serving as co-directors. Producers include Latifa Ouaou, Maryann Garger, along with original creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. Award-winning composer Jeremy Zuckerman will return to score both the film and the new series.

Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals for Paramount+, told reporters, “The Avatar Universe has captivated audiences for two decades, and Paramount+ is proud to be the exclusive streaming home for its beloved animated incarnation.”

“The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and Avatar: Seven Havens represent the next evolution of storytelling from Avatar Studios—bringing together remarkable talent both in front of and behind the camera to deliver the epic adventures and emotional depth fans have come to expect.”

With the move to Paramount+, fans can expect to experience the next chapter in the Avatar universe directly on streaming, alongside the new Safe Havens series, marking a significant expansion of animated content from Avatar Studios.
