Jamie Lee Curtis has spoken openly about her experience with plastic surgery and why she now strongly regrets it. The actress, now in her late 60s, says she went under the knife at just 25 and felt ashamed almost immediately after.

Curtis shared her story during an interview on 60 Minutes, where she explained what pushed her to make that decision. While working on the 1985 film Perfect, a comment about her looks from someone on set deeply affected her

. She recalled being told that her eyes did not look good enough to be filmed that day. “I was 25, so for him to say that, it was very embarrassing,” she said. Soon after the movie ended, she decided to have cosmetic surgery.

The result was not what she hoped for. Curtis said she regretted the procedure right away and has continued to feel that way ever since. “That’s just not what you want to do when you’re 25 or 26,” she explained, adding that the choice stayed with her for decades.

Over the years, Curtis has become more vocal about the pressure women face to change their appearance. She now speaks out against cosmetic procedures and urges women to accept how they look. “You’re gorgeous and you’re perfect the way you are,” she said, making it clear that surgery was not the right path for her.

In later interviews, Curtis used even stronger language. Speaking to The Guardian, she said the beauty industry has caused serious harm. “I believe that we have wiped out a generation or two of natural human appearance,” she said. She also warned that modern tools like filters and artificial intelligence are making the problem worse, as many people now chase an unrealistic and fake standard of beauty.

Curtis has also shared her thoughts on Botox in past interviews. While she admits it can reduce wrinkles, she believes it comes at a cost. “Then you look like a plastic figurine,” she once said on the TODAY show. She added that she sees too many people making their looks the center of their lives.
