Rhea Seehorn’s Secret to Staying Calm at the Golden Globes Revealed
Rhea Seehorn had a standout moment at the 2026 Golden Globes on Sunday. The Better Call Saul alum won Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series — Drama for her work on Apple TV+’s Pluribus, where she plays Carol Sturka, a character immune to the forced happiness spreading across the world.
During her acceptance speech, Seehorn joked about needing medication to calm her nerves. “My speech says, ‘Get a prescription for beta blockers,’ but I did not. Sorry! I’m going to do my best. I’m sorry, I am just a little shocked!”
Beta blockers are prescription drugs often used to treat heart problems by slowing the heart rate and relaxing blood vessels, according to the Cleveland Clinic. They can also help with other issues, including performance anxiety, which makes them useful for nerve-wracking moments like an awards show.
Seehorn’s category was competitive, featuring nominees such as Kathy Bates for Matlock, Britt Lower for Severance, Helen Mirren for MobLand, Bella Ramsey for The Last of Us, and Keri Russell for The Diplomat.
This isn’t Seehorn’s first recognition for Pluribus. Earlier in January, she took home Best Actress in a Drama Series at the Critics Choice Awards.
Seehorn said the project kept her guessing as much as the audience. “Carol’s very smart. She’s doing the best she can as you see as the series progresses to try to unravel what is going on and get some real answers. But I don’t know, and I must admit that I was perfectly happy to say, ‘Oh, that’s not my job,'” she explained.
Pluribus is available to stream on Apple TV, giving viewers a chance to see Seehorn’s award-winning performance for themselves.
Seeing an actor like Rhea Seehorn stay composed under pressure is impressive, especially given the stakes at an event like the Golden Globes. Her humor about beta blockers shows how even seasoned stars get nervous in the spotlight. What do you think about actors using medication or techniques to handle award-show nerves?
