Sara Foster is opening up about a date from her past that clearly left a bad impression. During a recent episode of The World’s First Podcast, which she hosts with her sister Erin Foster, the actress shared a blunt story about once being set up with George Clooney.

According to Sara, the date happened about 30 years ago and was arranged by her close friends Cindy Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber. Looking back, she did not sugarcoat the experience. I got set up with George Clooney, like, 30 years ago. It was such a blah. Sorry, had to say it, she said on the podcast.

Sara, now 44, explained that the age difference immediately stood out to her. At the time, Clooney felt much older, and the situation made her uncomfortable. It was just such a hard no. I remember thinking, “Oh, he is so old,” she said. She added that the date involved the four of them sitting together, which only made things worse for her. I’m sure George Clooney is a nice guy, but I just remember it being the four of us sitting there and thinking like, “I’m gonna die,” she said.

She also admitted she was already in a bad emotional place because she had just gone through a breakup. That only added to the awkward mood. Then, here’s this one who just feels like a grandpa. It was depressing. I was so depressed, she said.

Sara went on to say she felt surprised and even offended that Crawford and Gerber thought the match made sense. Clooney is now 64, and the age gap felt too big to her even then. She used the story to explain why she has never understood younger women dating much older men. I’ve never understood a 19-year-old that’s into a 40-year-old. I just always thought that was so weird, she said.

She also made it clear that the feeling was likely mutual. According to Sara, Clooney probably was not thrilled about the date either. I don’t think it was George being like, “Oh, set me up with Sara Foster,” she said, explaining that it was more likely Crawford and Gerber pushing the idea. She added that she ended up crying about her ex during the date. So I think he was like, “This chick’s not okay,” she joked.

The actress has been keeping a very high profile in early 2026, most recently appearing on the red carpet for the Critics Choice Awards on January 11. She and her sister Erin also attended the Golden Globes earlier this month to celebrate the ongoing success of their hit Netflix series Nobody Wants This.

Sara serves as an executive producer on the show, which was recently renewed for a third season set to premiere later in 2026. While Erin serves as the show’s creator, Sara is heavily involved in the creative process and the expansion of their fashion brand, Favorite Daughter, which recently opened its first flagship store in New York City.

Aside from her professional wins, Sara has been navigating a major life transition following her August 2024 separation from longtime partner Tommy Haas. Despite the split after 18 years together, the two have remained committed to co-parenting their daughters, Valentina and Josephine, and even continued living in the same home throughout late 2025.

In addition to her work on Nobody Wants This, Sara was recently named a global ambassador for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. She has described this stage of her life as a full-circle moment, finding success both in front of the camera and as a businesswoman.

Fans can expect to see more of her signature candid humor as she continues to record weekly episodes of her podcast. With season three of her show in development and her fashion brand expanding into footwear, Foster’s schedule for the remainder of the year is already packed.

Do you think Sara Foster’s take on age-gap dating is a fair reflection of the awkwardness that often comes with such setups, or was she just being a bit too harsh on the Hollywood icon? Share your thoughts in the comments.
