Zack Snyder Celebrates Gal Gadot with Epic Wonder Woman Throwback Video
Since establishing his presence on Instagram, director Zack Snyder has remained remarkably active in sharing glimpses into both his professional and private life. The filmmaker, known for his distinct visual style, frequently uses the platform to revisit his foundational work within the DCEU by posting never-before-seen behind-the-scenes content.
One of his most recent updates features a nostalgic look back at the origins of Gal Gadot’s portrayal of Wonder Woman. Snyder shared a short video of the actress rehearsing her character’s signature defensive move, adding a caption that emphasized the personal nature of the footage.
First ever Gauntlet Smash practice with @gal_gadot Shot on my phone. Pure joy, pure power, Snyder wrote in the post.
Gadot’s tenure as the iconic superhero spanned nearly a decade, including leading roles in Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984, along with appearances in both versions of Justice League. She also made late-stage cameos in Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash, marking the final chapters of the original cinematic timeline.
While a third solo film was initially planned under director Patty Jenkins, the project was ultimately shelved following the restructuring of DC Studios. Under the new leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran, the franchise is undergoing a total reboot into the DCU, where the role of Diana Prince is widely expected to be recast for a fresh continuity.
Public opinion on Gadot’s performance has often been divided between her physical presence and her delivery. While many fans celebrated her as a visually perfect embodiment of the comic book character, critics frequently pointed to her acting range as a point of weakness throughout her various appearances.
Outside of the superhero genre, Gal Gadot has been aggressively expanding her filmography with diverse projects. She recently starred as the Evil Queen in Disney’s live-action Snow White and appeared in the prestige drama In the Hand of Dante, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
Her upcoming schedule is equally packed, with the action thriller The Runner currently in development at Amazon International.
Zack Snyder is also moving toward more grounded storytelling after his recent sci-fi epic Rebel Moon. His next major project, titled The Last Photograph, is a gritty kidnapping thriller set in South America that he has been developing as a passion project for over twenty years.
The film stars Stuart Martin and Fra Fee, focusing on an ex-DEA agent and a war photographer navigating a dangerous search for missing family members. Additionally, Snyder is working on an untitled action film for Netflix centered on an elite unit of the Los Angeles Police Department.
