Chris Pratt is opening up about the real-life fallout from one of the most talked-about moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor says that fans didn’t just react online, they confronted him in person over his character, Star-Lord, in Avengers: Infinity War.

Pratt explained on the podcast Out of Order that some people blamed him directly for Star-Lord’s mistake in the film, which allowed Thanos to escape and ultimately caused half the universe to vanish. On the street, they’d come up to me like, Why’d you do it, man? Pratt recalled. I’m like, I didn’t do anything!

He joked about how the scene affected the story. Also, if Quill hadn’t done that, the two movies would’ve been thirty minutes long. We got him. Roll credits, he said. Pratt noted that it was different from his usual Guardians of the Galaxy films because the character wasn’t the main focus, and the tone changed without director James Gunn guiding the scenes.

Even with the public backlash, Pratt’s career is moving forward at full speed. He stars in the sci-fi thriller Mercy, which topped the box office this month. The movie, directed by Timur Bekmambetov, follows a detective facing trial in a future world run by AI judges, with Rebecca Ferguson providing the voice of the AI.

Pratt is also returning to animation as the voice of Mario in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, coming out in April. The film features Brie Larson and Jack Black. On television, he will reprise his role as James Reece in the second season of The Terminal List, titled True Believer, coming to Prime Video later this year.

While no new Marvel projects have been officially announced, Pratt teased that there is a clear plan for Star-Lord’s future. Fans will likely see more of the character eventually, even if details remain under wraps.

Pratt says he has come to terms with the controversy around the MCU scene. Even after facing intense reactions from fans, he continues to take on major projects across film and TV, proving his staying power in Hollywood.

It’s easy to forget that actors sometimes face real-world backlash for fictional events. Chris Pratt handled the situation with humor and perspective, showing that a career can survive even when fans are angry about a scene. What do you think, was Star-Lord really to blame, or have you forgiven Pratt? Share your thoughts in the comments.
