Marcello Hernández Addresses Dating Buzz After Dax Shepard Brings Up Sabrina Carpenter
Marcello Hernández found himself at the center of dating chatter this week after a lighthearted moment on a popular podcast turned into online buzz. The Saturday Night Live comedian appeared on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, where Shepard openly joked about Hernández dating pop star Sabrina Carpenter.
During the conversation, Shepard admitted he has been on a Sabrina Carpenter kick lately and said that if he were Marcello’s age, he would already be planning a wedding. The moment was playful, but Hernández didn’t let the idea linger for long.
He quickly set the record straight on the podcast. I’m in a relationship, he said. Yeah, I’m in a relationship with a Dominican girl. She’s an architect. She’s unreal. She went to Yale. The comment shut down any speculation right away.
According to public appearances and multiple media reports, Hernández has been dating Ana Amelia Batlle Cabral. The two have been seen together at industry events for months. They attended an afterparty for The Phoenician Scheme in May and later made a red carpet appearance together at the Happy Gilmore 2 premiere last summer.
While the dating rumors were put to rest, Hernández still had plenty of praise for Carpenter. On Armchair Expert, he spoke warmly about working with her on SNL sketches. Sabrina’s really, like, she’s down, she’s down to clown. She’s down to think of something funny. She’s an actress, he told Shepard. He added that she is awesome, funny, and easy to collaborate with.
Their chemistry has been especially visible in the popular Domingo sketches, which became a standout bit on SNL. The joke even crossed over into real life when Carpenter brought it on stage during her Short n’ Sweet tour. At a Los Angeles show in late 2024, she playfully staged an onstage arrest of Hernández, sending fans into a frenzy.
That excitement only grew earlier this month when Hernández posted a black-and-white video of himself wearing a tuxedo and sharing a quiet moment with his mother. Many fans assumed it meant a real wedding announcement. Soon after, he revealed the clip was actually promo material for his Netflix stand-up special Marcello Hernández: American Boy, which premiered on January 7.
As of early 2026, Hernández is riding a strong wave of success. He remains a key cast member on Saturday Night Live and is stepping further into film work. He is set to appear alongside Kevin Hart in the Netflix comedy 72 Hours, marking his first major live-action movie role.
The dating speculation may have been brief, but Hernández made his position clear. He is focused on his relationship, his comedy, and a career that keeps getting bigger.
