Former Child Star Says She Lost a Lot of Weight but the Struggle Remains
Amanda Bynes is sharing a new update about her health and says she finally feels motivated again. The former child star spoke directly to fans on social media after seeing a recent paparazzi photo of herself that changed how she viewed her progress.
On Monday, December 22, Bynes posted about her weight loss journey, explaining that she has lost 28 pounds with the help of the medication Ozempic. According to her own post, she started at 180 pounds and is now down to 152.
She admitted that she usually avoids paparazzi photos, saying, “I don’t like paparazzi pictures because I was 180 lbs”. This time, however, the image gave her encouragement instead of discomfort. She added that while she is not finished yet, seeing the difference was “really inspiring”.
Bynes first shared her plans earlier in the summer, when she told followers she wanted to lose more than 40 pounds. At that time, she said she weighed 173 pounds and hoped to reach around 130. She explained that her goal was to feel more comfortable being seen in public and photographed. She also promised transparency, writing “I will post about my Ozempic journey” so people could follow along.
The journey has not been simple. In earlier posts from 2024, Bynes spoke openly about weight gain during a period of depression. She said her mental health struggles made it hard to stay active and consistent. Later updates showed a more hopeful tone, with Bynes sharing that she was feeling better and working on habits like regular exercise and healthier eating. She also mentioned using a mental health technique called opposite action to keep moving forward even when motivation is low.
Her focus on health is part of a bigger change in her life. Bynes stepped away from acting in 2012 and has since spoken honestly about how body image issues and substance use affected her career. Much of this information has come directly from her social media posts and past interviews.

In early 2026, Amanda was photographed around Los Angeles with her boyfriend Zachary, living a quieter and more relaxed life. Fans noticed her new style, fresh tattoos, and a more confident presence. She has also shared clips of original EDM music online, showing interest in creative projects outside of acting.
Bynes is currently working toward a manicurist license and has returned to school to study nail theory and acrylic techniques. She previously tried podcasting in late 2023 but paused the project to focus on building a stable career in cosmetology, according to her own updates.
She also recently launched an OnlyFans account. Bynes has stated that the page is non explicit and focused on direct communication with fans. She says it helps her feel connected and supported.
While she has no plans to return to movies right now, her past films continue to find new viewers on streaming platforms. Amanda has hinted online that future projects may involve fashion or art instead of acting.
By sharing her weight loss journey, mental health struggles, and everyday life so openly, Amanda Bynes continues to reshape her public story on her own terms.
