Leonardo DiCaprio’s relationship with model Vittoria Ceretti is reportedly facing a major obstacle, and sources say it has nothing to do with a lack of feelings. According to RadarOnline, the issue comes down to one very important person in his life, his mother.

The actor, now 51, has been linked to the 27-year-old Italian supermodel since 2023. The two have been seen together often, including a recent quiet dinner in Beverly Hills. Still, insiders claim DiCaprio is hesitant to fully commit because he needs approval from his mother, Irmelin Indenbirken, before making serious life decisions.

Sources told RadarOnline that Indenbirken is not just close to her son; she is the main influence in his world. One insider described her as “the permanent figure in his life”. According to people close to DiCaprio, he turns to her first when it comes to big choices, whether it’s a movie role or a romantic relationship.

This situation has reportedly created tension behind the scenes. Those in his inner circle allegedly know that his mother’s opinion comes before anyone else’s. While DiCaprio enjoys dating and spending time with his girlfriends, sources say he feels most comfortable and secure when his mother is involved or approving from the sidelines. That dynamic is said to be a big reason why he has never settled down.

Things reportedly became awkward earlier this year during the Golden Globes on January 11. Instead of attending the event with Ceretti, DiCaprio chose to walk the red carpet with his mother. Sources claim the move caught Vittoria off guard and left her hurt, as she expected to be by his side at such a major event. To many observers, that choice highlighted where DiCaprio’s priorities still lie.

While his personal life raises questions, his career is thriving. DiCaprio is currently enjoying strong awards-season buzz thanks to his role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s crime thriller One Battle After Another. The film, which also stars Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro, has been well-received, and DiCaprio has already picked up a Golden Globe and the Desert Palm Achievement Award for his performance.
