Adrien Brody Reacts to Jacob Elordi’s Awkward Red Carpet Moment With His Mother
Jacob Elordi had a quiet but funny moment on the red carpet, and the internet could not get enough of it. The actor recently attended the Los Angeles premiere of his new film Wuthering Heights, where a short fan-recorded video captured an unexpected family interaction.
In the clip, Elordi is seen taking chewing gum out of his mouth and handing it to his mother so he could continue posing for photos. The video was shared widely on social media and quickly went viral.
The moment even caught the attention of Adrien Brody. According to social media comments, Brody reacted to the clip by calling it completely relatable. His reaction stood out because he went through something very similar during the 2025 Academy Awards.
At that ceremony, Brody was on his way to the stage to accept the Best Actor award for The Brutalist when he suddenly realized he was chewing gum. Cameras caught him quickly passing it to his partner, fashion designer Georgina Chapman, before giving his speech. The moment became one of the most talked-about scenes of the night, based on broadcast footage and online clips.
Later, Chapman explained what really happened. In interviews following the Oscars, she shared that she was the one who told Brody to hand over the gum. She noticed the look on his face and knew he had just realized chewing gum during an acceptance speech was not ideal.
Brody later joked about the situation during a television appearance. He admitted he had completely forgotten about the gum until his name was announced. He laughed about how he could not imagine giving a serious speech while chewing and said his first reaction was to get rid of it as fast as possible.
Elordi may soon understand that pressure himself. According to awards season reports, he has earned his first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He was recognized for his role as the Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. The nomination places him alongside well-known actors like Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, Delroy Lindo, and Stellan Skarsgård.
To prepare for the role, Elordi went all in. In past interviews, he shared that he kept a large journal written from the Creature’s point of view. By the end of filming, he said the journal had grown into what felt like a full book. He described the process as intense and said it felt like living inside the character’s mind for months.
He also worked closely with del Toro to shape the character’s voice and movement. The two studied silent films from the early twentieth century, focusing on how actors used facial expressions instead of dialogue. Elordi explained that those performances were clear and controlled, even when they seemed dramatic at first glance.
Outside of awards season, Elordi has a packed schedule. He will star as Heathcliff in Emerald Fennell’s upcoming version of Wuthering Heights alongside Margot Robbie. He is also set to appear in Ridley Scott’s sci-fi film The Dog Stars with Margaret Qualley.
Between viral red carpet moments and major career milestones, Jacob Elordi is clearly having a big year, with his mom right by his side when it counts.
