Rebecca Ferguson Shares Rare Details About Becoming a Mom at 23 With an Older Partner
Rebecca Ferguson is opening up about what it was really like becoming a mom at a young age while building a huge acting career. In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the Silo actress talked about having her first child at 23 and how her life experience shaped the way she handled motherhood.
Ferguson welcomed her son, Isac, when she was still very young by most standards. But she explained that she did not feel unprepared. She had been working professionally since she was 15 and said she had already learned responsibility early on. Being part of the industry as a teenager forced her to grow up fast, long before she became a parent.
That early start helped her feel steady during the first years of raising her son. She shares Isac with her former partner, Ludwig Hallberg. Although there was a 22-year age difference between them, Ferguson felt her adult life had already started years earlier because of her work background.
She later became a mother again, welcoming a daughter named Saga with her husband, Rory St. Clair Gainer. Saga is now seven years old. Ferguson also spoke about working through her second pregnancy, including filming intense scenes for the Mission Impossible movies. She remembered shooting fight scenes and then having to run off to vomit before quickly returning to finish the take.
Her job often takes her all over the world, from extremely hot deserts to cold locations. Even with that schedule, Ferguson has set one clear rule for herself. She refuses to be away from her children for more than three weeks at a time. She said this boundary helps her stay present in their lives and keeps her family as her top priority.
She also shared a funny story involving her daughter’s school. After filming Hercules with Dwayne Johnson, Ferguson brought home a skull prop as a gift. Her daughter loved it so much that she brought it to school for show and tell. The school later sent it back home and asked for something a little more appropriate next time.
As of February, Ferguson continues to be one of the biggest names in science fiction. Her latest movie, Mercy, was released in theaters on January 23. In the film, she plays an artificial intelligence judge opposite Chris Pratt. While critics had mixed feelings, many viewers praised her performance.
Looking ahead, Ferguson has a packed schedule. She is getting ready for the release of Silo Season 3 on Apple TV+, with work already underway on the fourth and final season. She has also joined the cast of the upcoming Peaky Blinders film, The Immortal Man, where she stars alongside Cillian Murphy. On top of that, she is set to appear in the fantasy film The Magic Faraway Tree.
