Kelsea Ballerini might be turning her heartbreak into inspiration. Just days after reports confirmed that she and Outer Banks star Chase Stokes had split for a third time, Ballerini grabbed attention online with a pointed comment on social media.

The interaction came on a post by fellow country singer Ashley Cooke, who shared a snippet of an unreleased song about a messy breakup, with lyrics about “wandering eyes” and “hiding phones.

The song also mentions how ‘towns talk’ and how ‘crossing lines makes Xs.” Ballerini’s reaction was a simple “mmmhhhmmm” in the comments, which many fans interpreted as a knowing nod to her own life.

Cooke replied to Ballerini, writing that the singer “clearly gets it,” fueling speculation that the lyrics were a reflection of her split from Stokes. So far, neither Ballerini nor Stokes has publicly addressed the breakup in detail.

Just a week before the Grammy Awards, Ballerini spoke to Entertainment Tonight about their relationship, saying they had shared “a lot of life together.” She also reflected on their previous split in late 2025, admitting it had been more dramatic than it seemed but was a learning experience for both of them.

Despite her recent comments, Ballerini unfollowed Stokes on Instagram on February 6, signaling that she might be ready to move on for good. While handling her personal life, Ballerini is entering a busy year professionally. She continues as a coach on The Voice and is promoting her latest project, Mount Pleasant, which debuted in November 2025.

Songs like “I Sit in Parks” and “Cowboys Cry Too” have been hitting the charts, and she’s set to headline major live shows this summer, including the Barefoot Country Music Fest in New Jersey and the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open in New York.

Stokes, meanwhile, is also turning a page. Netflix finished production on the fifth and final season of Outer Banks in December 2025. The ten-episode finale is set to debut later this spring or summer. Stokes has expressed gratitude for the role that made him famous and hinted that he’s ready to explore more daring and artistic roles going forward.

Interestingly, Ballerini seems to be keeping things friendly with Stokes’ former co-star and ex, Madelyn Cline. The two shared a playful selfie after the Grammys, easing any rumors of tension sparked by Ballerini’s song “Emerald City.”
