Gwyneth Paltrow’s Daughter Sets the Record Straight on School Expulsion
Apple Martin is speaking out to clear the air about rumors that she was expelled from school for bullying. The 21-year-old daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow took to Instagram Stories on Monday, February 16, to firmly deny the claims. I have never been expelled from any school, and certainly not for bullying, she wrote.
Martin said she usually prefers to stay quiet, but felt the story had gotten out of control online. She acknowledged that not everyone will like her, especially on social media, but emphasized that the accusations about her being mean were completely false. Those who really know me know that I’m not that kind of person, she added.
The rumors seem to have started after a 2024 viral video from Le Bal des Débutantes in Paris. Some viewers misinterpreted her movements during a photo moment, suggesting she was unfriendly. The young woman featured in the clip, Aliénor Loppin de Montmort, defended Martin, calling her genuinely the nicest girl ever and saying she treated all the other debutantes with respect.
Friends and family have also come to her defense, portraying her as a supportive person who never tried to steal the spotlight. A source close to Paltrow explained that the online attention took away from what was meant to be an uplifting event. At the time, Martin even joked about the rumors with friends on TikTok, making light of the situation.

As she nears her graduation from Vanderbilt University in May, Apple has been raising her public profile. She recently debuted as a brand ambassador for Self-Portrait and appeared in a GapStudio campaign alongside her mother. She is also exploring music, having performed a surprise set with the duo Jade Street in Nashville.
While she originally studied law, history, and society at Vanderbilt, Martin has said her real passion is acting. She told Vogue that she once went through a rebellious phase, wanting to chart her own path instead of following her famous parents, but now she has embraced her creative side. She is currently directing a play at her university and has expressed a love for musical theater, even if solo singing still terrifies her.
Martin has also used her platform to address other false rumors, including speculation about cosmetic surgery. She admitted she tried lip filler once at 18 but didn’t like the results and now prefers clever makeup techniques.
As she prepares to leave college and build a career in entertainment, Apple Martin is focused on showing her true self and debunking the misconceptions that have followed her. I just want people to know the real me, she said.
