Brendan Fraser takes on one of history’s toughest roles in the first trailer for Pressure, Focus Features’ new World War II drama. The film focuses on the 72 hours leading up to D-Day, highlighting the tense decisions that shaped one of the most important military operations in history. Fraser stars as General Dwight D. Eisenhower, while Andrew Scott plays Royal Air Force meteorologist James Stagg, whose weather forecast could make or break the invasion.

The trailer shows Eisenhower under immense pressure, balancing the weight of leadership with the human emotions behind the man. Pressure is based on David Haig’s 2014 stage play, adapted for the screen by Haig and director Anthony Maras.

Fraser, who won an Oscar for The Whale, brings both strength and vulnerability to the iconic role. “Fraser embodies Eisenhower with an all-consuming, gruff steadiness,” the trailer commentary notes, capturing the general’s mix of authority and human doubt.

Scott’s character plays a key role as well, treating clouds as life-or-death signals for the invasion. The trailer alternates between close war-room tension and sweeping shots of Normandy’s stormy coast, showing both strategy and nature as forces shaping history. Kerry Condon joins as Eisenhower’s assistant Kay Summersby, while Damian Lewis, Chris Messina, and others round out a strong ensemble cast.

Rather than a typical action-packed war film, Pressure leans into political and emotional tension, focusing on the real stakes of leadership and decision-making under extreme circumstances. The film draws comparisons to classics like Dunkirk and Das Boot for its immersive approach to history.

Pressure hits theaters on Friday, May 29.

From what the trailer shows, Brendan Fraser seems ready to deliver a commanding and human portrayal of Eisenhower, and the film’s tension-filled approach makes it stand out from standard war movies. I’m excited to see how the story of leadership, strategy, and personal pressure unfolds on the big screen.
