Vera Wang turned heads at the BAFTA Awards in London on February 22 by revealing a completely new look. The 76-year-old fashion designer surprised everyone with a platinum blonde hairstyle that had dark roots for contrast.

This was a big change from just a day earlier, when she wore her usual long dark hair at the nominees’ pre-party. For the main event, Wang wore a striking outfit from her own fashion line.

The gown was white and floor-length with ruching, while the black puffed sleeves added drama. She finished the look with her signature black cat-eye sunglasses, proving why she is still a major figure in fashion.

The night before, at the nominees’ gala, Wang showed off a more daring outfit. She wore a black bandeau top with a fitted skirt, paired with a big fur wrap, long black leather gloves, and a large black hat. Her style choices show that she uses the BAFTAs as her personal runway.

Wang is known for experimenting with her appearance during awards season. Last year at the BAFTAs, she wore a blunt brunette bob with a black-and-white color-block skirt. She shared her excitement on social media, saying it was a big day and sending good wishes to all the nominees.

Even in cold weather, Wang doesn’t let comfort get in the way of style. During a chilly London outing, she joked that heavy outerwear was necessary and called her choice a heavy leather moment, staying fashionable while keeping warm.

Turning 75 gave Wang a new perspective on her career. She admitted it felt like a lot of pressure, but stayed determined to keep working. She compared her dedication to people like Warren Buffett and Queen Elizabeth, saying she wants to keep moving forward.

She has often spoken about celebrating life at every age. Some friends feel awkward about marking birthdays, but Wang believes it’s about the privilege of being alive, not the number of years. She celebrated this philosophy last summer with a glamorous party in Paris.

Beyond fashion, Wang has been busy expanding her lifestyle brand. In late 2025, she launched a sustainable bridal line using recycled fabrics, which has quickly become popular with eco-conscious celebrities. She is also collaborating on a limited-edition home decor collection with a major European retailer.

Wang continues to give back as well. She supports the arts in New York City and mentors young designers through scholarship funds. She has even hinted at a memoir about her journey from competitive figure skater to global fashion icon.
