Morgan Freeman has openly criticized President Donald Trump during a live TV interview, calling him a “convicted felon” and saying he is “leading us down a s*****. The remarks came while Freeman was promoting the new Prime Video historical drama, The Gray House, which he executive produced, according to MS NOW.

During his appearance on The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell, Freeman was asked how he sees the current state of the country. He responded with strong language, saying, “Well, we have somebody sitting in the White House who is leading us down a s*****.”

He went on to question how someone with a criminal record could hold the presidency: “I can’t personally understand how a convicted felon… convicted! [Someone with] 34 felonious counts of wrongdoing gets to be president. How do you do that?”

Freeman also addressed those defending Trump’s right to become president despite his convictions. “I don’t care! That ruling went down before he stepped into the Oval Office. It just doesn’t make sense to me,” he said.

Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts in 2024 by a unanimous jury in New York for falsifying business records in the first degree. The charges stemmed from reimbursements made to Michael Cohen for hush money payments to Stormy Daniels, actions that violated state laws and attempted to influence the 2016 election. The jury concluded that Trump committed or concealed other crimes, including violations of state and federal tax laws and the Federal Election Campaign Act.

Freeman also spoke on CBS Mornings about another topic: the rise of AI. He expressed concerns about companies using AI to replicate his voice or likeness. “I’ve got lawyers,” he said, emphasizing that he would take legal action if necessary.

However, he acknowledged past arrangements where he was compensated for the use of his voice, recalling a 2011 English commercial that used the tagline “MoreThan Freeman.” “I said: ‘Yeah, that works,’” he said.

Freeman’s comments highlight how outspoken he is willing to be about political and technological issues, even at 88 years old. He clearly doesn’t shy away from controversy, whether it’s calling out a former president or speaking on the ethics of AI. What do you think about Freeman’s remarks on Trump and his stance on AI?
