Catherine O’Hara was honored at the 32nd Annual Actor Awards on Sunday, March 1, with a posthumous win for Best TV Comedy Actress for her work on the Apple TV+ series The Studio. The legendary actress, who passed away in January at 71 due to a pulmonary embolism, left behind a career full of iconic roles.

Seth Rogen, who created The Studio and starred alongside her, accepted the award on her behalf. “I know she would’ve been honored to receive this award from her fellow performers, who I know she respected so much. She was such a big fan of all of yours,” he told the audience.

Rogen shared how generous O’Hara was on set, often sending him and his writing partner, Evan Goldberg, rewritten versions of her scenes that made the show even better. “She really showed that you can be a genius and be kind, and one of those things does not have to come at the expense of the other in any way, shape, or form,” he said.

He encouraged the audience to watch her work, recalling her classic moments in Beetlejuice and Best in Show. “We were lucky that we got to live in a world where she generously shared her talents with us,” he added.

O’Hara had a long career that fans loved, from playing the mom in Home Alone to Moira Rose in Schitt’s Creek. Her recent projects included a guest role on the second season of HBO’s The Last of Us as Gail, which earned her an Emmy nomination, and her role as Patty Leigh in The Studio, a comedy about Hollywood filmmaking.

The show also features Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, and Bryan Cranston, and it has already been renewed for a second season on Apple TV+. Before her passing, O’Hara returned to her iconic role as Delia Deetz in Beetlejuice 2, released in late 2024 alongside Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton.

She is survived by her husband, Bo Welch, and their two sons, Matthew and Luke. Catherine O’Hara will always be remembered not just as a comedic genius but as a kind and generous person whose work continues to inspire.
