Netflix is growing its reality TV universe with a new celebrity-focused spinoff called Squid Game: The VIP Challenge. This version puts famous faces into the intense competition instead of everyday contestants, raising the stakes in a whole new way.

The streaming platform recently shared the first trailer and details about the show, confirming that eight well-known celebrities will take part. According to Netflix, the VIP players will be tested on strategy, decision-making, and mental strength in a setting built to push them to their limits.

The cast pulls from several corners of pop culture. Music fans will recognize Spice Girls member Mel B, while sports fans will spot NBA champion Tristan Thompson. Reality TV is also well represented, with Hannah Godwin and Kim Zolciak joining the competition.

Also taking part are real estate star Ryan Serhant, digital creator Kristy Sarah, and adventure content creator Dylan Efron. Adding an extra layer of intrigue is a returning contestant known as Viper, who earned a spot on the show after winning a fan vote during the second season of Squid Game: The Challenge.

Netflix has not yet revealed the prize amount or the full list of games, but the format is expected to closely follow the intense physical and psychological challenges that made the franchise famous.

Viper has already hinted that he plans to shake things up, saying he wants to cause chaos and approach every decision with extreme focus. He explained that his experience taught him that every move matters and that nothing should be taken lightly.

The celebrity edition arrives as the Squid Game franchise continues to be a major success for Netflix. The original Korean drama wrapped up its final season in June 2025, while the reality series Squid Game The Challenge finished its second season later that year and has already been renewed for a third.

Critics have noted that while the reality version does not carry the same social commentary, it still delivers strong entertainment. One reviewer commented that the games are fun to watch as long as you do not think too deeply about the moral side of it.

Outside the show, several of the VIP contestants have been busy with their own projects. Mel B has been publicly discussing a possible 30th anniversary Spice Girls reunion. Dylan Efron recently launched a YouTube series called Everything’s a Competition, which feels fitting given his upcoming challenge.

Production on the celebrity spinoff is expected to wrap soon, but a premiere date has not yet been announced. Fans are now waiting to see which VIP will outlast the others and take home the win.
