‘Baywatch’ Revival Confirms Casting for Stephen Amell’s Daughter Role
Baywatch is officially coming back, and the red swimsuits are returning with it. Fox is reviving the classic series, and a new cast is getting ready to take over the beach. One of the biggest additions is actress Jessica Belkin, who has joined the show in a major role, according to production details shared by the network.
Belkin, who is 23, will play Charlie Vale, a young woman with a complicated past and a surprising connection to the Baywatch team. In the series, Charlie is revealed to be the biological daughter of Hobie Buchannon, played by Stephen Amell. Her character grew up without knowing her father existed.
The story follows Charlie as she leaves her troubled home life in Galveston and heads to California to find Hobie. Her goal is simple but ambitious. She wants to prove that she belongs on the Baywatch team. The character is described as fearless and driven, but also a bit reckless, which often gets her into trouble.
At the heart of the revival is the relationship between Charlie and Hobie. He is a seasoned captain who suddenly finds himself trying to connect with a daughter he never knew he had. The show leans heavily into this father-daughter story, adding emotional weight to the dramatic rescues and beachside action.
The new Baywatch series has received a 12-episode order from Fox and is expected to premiere during the 2026 to 2027 broadcast season. The production recently held an open casting call on February 18 to fill more roles, signaling that the rest of the team is still coming together.
Fans of the original show will recognize at least one familiar face. David Chokachi is returning as Cody Madison. In this updated version, Cody is no longer a full-time lifeguard. Instead, he runs The Shoreline, a bar and grill that acts as a hangout spot for the Baywatch crew. He still helps out when needed and serves as a mentor to the younger lifeguards.
For Jessica Belkin, the role marks another big step in her rising career. She recently drew attention for playing young Margo in the Netflix drama The Hunting Wives. She is also set to appear in the Prime Video series Elle, a prequel tied to the Legally Blonde franchise, which focuses on the early life of Elle Woods.
The original Baywatch aired from 1989 to 2001 and became one of the most-watched shows in television history. The revival aims to honor that legacy while updating the tone, visuals, and storytelling for a modern audience.
With a mix of returning characters and new faces like Belkin, the series is hoping to bring fresh energy to a well-known franchise. As production moves forward, all eyes are on whether this new version can capture the same magic that once made Baywatch a global phenomenon.
