Doctor Reveals Bizarre Health Question From a Well Known Celebrity
Doctor and internet personality Mikhail Varshavski, who many people know online as Doctor Mike, recently shared a strange story involving actress Kristen Bell. He talked about it while appearing on The Basement Yard podcast, where he explained that Bell once messaged him with a very unusual health question.
According to Varshavski, the Frozen and Veronica Mars star asked him if drinking her own urine could actually be good for her health. The doctor said he was surprised by the message and still finds the moment hard to believe.
While telling the story, he made sure to clarify that he was not breaking any privacy rules by talking about it because the message was not part of an official medical appointment. It was simply a casual exchange.
Looking directly at the camera during the podcast, Varshavski jokingly addressed the actress. “I can’t believe you really considered drinking urine.” He then explained that he gently advised her not to try the practice.
At the time, Bell had apparently heard from a friend that drinking morning urine could provide nutrients and help “remineralize” the body. The doctor quickly told her that there were many better and safer ways to get vitamins.
Later, however, Varshavski learned that the whole situation had actually started as a prank. Bell later talked about the story herself during an episode of her husband Dax Shepard’s podcast Armchair Expert.
She revealed that the person behind the prank was her Nobody Wants This co-star Justine Lupe. Bell explained that the joke lasted for several weeks while they were filming the Netflix series. Lupe and fellow actor Adam Brody reportedly started talking about the supposed health benefits of drinking urine just to see if Bell would believe them.
Bell said the two actors made the conversation sound convincing by discussing how “nutritious” and “vitamin-dense” morning urine was supposed to be. Since Bell is known for being curious and open to new ideas, they kept pushing the joke further.
Eventually, Lupe even brought containers filled with drinks that only looked like urine to make the prank feel more real. Bell said the trick went on for about five weeks before Lupe finally admitted it was all fake.
After learning the truth, Bell reached out to Varshavski to double-check whether there was any real science behind the idea. The doctor told her there was not, and joked that taking a multivitamin would be a much better option.
The story has added another funny moment to Bell’s already busy year. The actress recently hosted the 32nd Annual Actor Awards ceremony on March 1, where she joked about the event’s new name after its rebranding from the SAG Awards. During the show, she laughed and said, “We nipped the SAG, and now it’s just the Actor Awards.”
Bell has also been celebrating the success of her romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This. The show returned with a second season in late 2025 and introduced Leighton Meester as a childhood rival to Bell’s character, Joanne. The new storyline creates more tension in Joanne’s relationship with Adam Brody’s character, Noah.
The actress also has several big projects coming soon. She is currently finishing work on Violent Night 2, where she will play Mrs. Claus. She has also signed on to voice Amy Rose in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4. Fans are also waiting for her return as Anna in Frozen III, which is currently being prepared for release in 2027.
