The ‘Titanic’ Star Fans Once Called the Hottest Is Back and His Latest Appearance Has Everyone Talking
A new wave of attention is building around one of the actors from the 1997 film Titanic, and this time the focus is not on Leonardo DiCaprio. Fans online have started talking about Danny Nucci, the actor who played Jack Dawson’s close friend Fabrizio in the movie. Many viewers are now saying that he was actually the real heartthrob of the film.
The renewed interest began after pop culture commentator John Wallison shared a recent photo of Nucci on social media. According to Wallison’s post, the actor has aged very well, and the comment quickly caught the attention of Titanic fans.
People began sharing their opinions in the replies, with many saying they always thought Fabrizio was more attractive than Jack. Some fans were very direct about it. A few wrote that Fabrizio was cuter than Jack and that he was the character they were really cheering for during the film.
The discussion quickly spread to Reddit, where users continued praising Nucci’s classic looks and natural charm. In Titanic, Fabrizio is the cheerful young man who boards the ship after winning a last-minute poker game with Jack.
The character quickly became memorable for his friendship with Jack and his excitement about traveling to America. But Nucci later revealed that his role in the movie was originally bigger than what audiences saw in theaters.
The actor has said in past interviews that he felt disappointed when he first watched the film at its premiere. He realized that several of his scenes had been removed during editing.
At the time, he said it was hard to see so much of his work missing. After watching the movie again later, he changed his view and began to appreciate the huge scale of the project that director James Cameron had created.
Nucci also shared what it was really like filming one of the movie’s most famous moments. The scene where Jack and Fabrizio stand at the front of the ship shouting King of the World looks joyful on screen, but the reality was very different.
He later explained that the two actors were extremely cold while filming it. According to Nucci, they were also hungry and uncomfortable during the long shoot. He recalled the experience by saying they were freezing on a giant platform, hungry and needing to use the restroom, while trying to look like the happiest they had ever been.
Fabrizio’s story in the film ends in a tragic way. During the sinking of the ship, he is hit by one of the falling smokestacks while trying to swim to safety. However, another version of the scene was filmed that viewers never saw in the final movie.
In that alternate scene, Fabrizio tries to climb into a lifeboat but is stopped by the villain Cal, played by Billy Zane. Cal strikes him with an oar and sends him away, telling him America is that way. Nucci later said he understood why the scene was removed because it repeated the idea that Cal was already a cruel character.
After Titanic, Nucci continued working steadily in film and television. He appeared in movies like The Rock and Crimson Tide and also became a familiar face on TV shows, including 9-1-1, Castle, and The Rookie.
Many viewers also remember him from the Freeform drama The Fosters, where he played Mike Foster for several seasons. In recent years, he has continued appearing in guest roles on popular series, including 9-1-1 and the reboot of Dynasty.
Now, as Titanic continues to find new audiences online, Nucci is once again getting attention from fans who remember his character. With people rediscovering the film and sharing clips across social media, Fabrizio’s role is getting fresh appreciation many years after the movie first premiered.
