Naomi Watts’ Trans Daughter Kai Schreiber, 17, Makes Headlines with Paris Fashion Week Appearance
Naomi Watts has attended many major fashion events over the years, but during the latest shows in Paris Fashion Week it was her daughter Kai Schreiber who drew much of the attention.
The 17-year-old appeared with her mother at the Balenciaga Womenswear Fall/Winter 2026 show in Paris. Photographers gathered outside the venue as the pair arrived and posed together before heading inside. Images from the event were shared by fashion media including WWD, where both mother and daughter were photographed arriving at the show.
Kai wore an all-black outfit that matched the bold and modern style often seen at Balenciaga events. Her look included a sharply cut black outfit with a statement belt from the brand and a small clutch. She finished the look with smoky eye makeup and wore her long blonde hair down over her shoulders.

The appearance showed how comfortable she is becoming in the fashion spotlight. Kai stood confidently next to her mother as cameras flashed, looking every bit like a young model building her place in the industry.
Watts also wore black for the event. The actress chose a strapless top with a curved neckline and paired it with tailored trousers. She completed the outfit with heels and a small clutch bag. The two created a coordinated mother-daughter look that was simple but stylish.

Schreiber spoke about his daughter earlier this year in an interview with Variety. He said, Kai was always who Kai is. He explained that the moment that stood out most for him was when she asked the family to start using different pronouns.
But I suppose the most profound moment was her asking us to change her pronouns, he said. He added that it was not a big shock for their family. To be honest with you, it didn’t feel like that big of a deal to me only because Kai had been so feminine for so long.
Kai has also spoken openly about her goals in fashion. In a 2025 interview with Interview, she said she has dreamed about modeling for many years.
I always wanted to grow up and be a beautiful, glamorous, influential woman, like Marilyn Monroe, she said, referring to Marilyn Monroe. I want to be a supermodel. Period. I’ve been practicing my walks in the kitchen for years – my mom can show you all the videos I forced her to film.
She also mentioned several people who inspired her, including Alex Consani, Hunter Schafer, Hari Nef, Richie Shazam, and Colin Jones.
With appearances at major fashion events and growing attention from the industry, Kai is starting to build a name for herself outside of her famous parents. Her presence at Paris Fashion Week suggests that her modeling ambitions are already moving forward.
