While some achieved steady careers in television or film they did not always reach the absolute pinnacle of superstardom that fans and critics once predicted. This list explores several male performers who were poised for massive success but followed different trajectories in the entertainment world.

Mekhi Phifer

Mekhi Phifer made a significant impact with his debut role in the Spike Lee film ‘Clockers’ which established him as a serious dramatic talent. He went on to star in high profile projects like the horror sequel ‘I Still Know What You Did Last Summer’ and the musical drama ‘8 Mile’. Phifer also spent several years as a lead on the popular medical series ‘ER’ where he played the character Doctor Greg Pratt.
