Legendary ‘Ghostbusters’ Actress Dead at 65

Jennifer Runyon, the beloved actress known for her memorable work in 1980s television and movies, has passed away at the age of 65. Her family shared the news that she died on the evening of Friday, March 6, after a battle with cancer.

In a heartfelt message on social media, her family said, “This past Friday night, our beloved Jennifer passed away. It was a long and arduous journey that ended with her surrounded by her family.” They added that she would “always be remembered for her love of life and her devotion to her family and friends.”

Erin Murphy, who starred on Bewitched, also paid tribute, writing, “So sad to share that my friend Jennifer Runyon Corman has passed away after a brief battle with cancer. Some people you just know you’ll be friends with before you even meet.”

Born in Chicago in 1960, Runyon quickly gained attention in Hollywood with her breakout roles during the 1980s. She is perhaps best remembered for her scene in the 1984 supernatural hit Ghostbusters, where she played a student undergoing a test of extrasensory perception alongside Bill Murray.

Runyon also made a mark on television. She played Gwendolyn Pierce on the first season of Charles in Charge and appeared as Sally Frame on the soap opera Another World. Fans also remember her stepping into the role of Cindy Brady in the holiday TV movie A Very Brady Christmas.

In the 1990s, Runyon shifted her focus from acting to family and education. She married college basketball coach Todd Corman in 1991, and together they raised two children, Wyatt and Bayley.

Her daughter Bayley, now an actress herself appearing in shows like 9-1-1, posted a moving tribute on Instagram, writing, “all of the best parts of me came from you. I would give anything for one more day together.”

Although she mostly retired from acting in the mid-2010s, Runyon stayed connected with fans through appearances at events like the Chiller Theatre Expo. Her work on both television and film remains a cherished part of 1980s pop culture, and she is remembered for the charm and talent she brought to every role.
