A recent leak from the set of HBO’s Harry Potter TV series has given fans a first look at a brand-new version of Diagon Alley. The footage was first shared by The Sun and has since spread across social media, giving Potterheads plenty to discuss.

The leaked video shows a minute-long walk down the recreated Diagon Alley, filled with magical shops and familiar landmarks. Unlike the wide, cinematic streets seen in the original Harry Potter films, this version is noticeably narrower, resembling a real London alley. Fans have been quick to point out that the new set feels more grounded, while still keeping the magical charm of the wizarding world.

One surprising addition is a shop called Acciocoffee!, which appears to be a magical café with a neon sign, a location never mentioned in the books or films. At the far end of the street, Gringotts Bank makes its appearance, looking familiar but now set in a leafy square. The series seems to be blending the old with fresh new ideas for this reimagined wizarding world.

How the footage leaked is unclear, as the production has been kept under wraps. Filming takes place mostly at Warner Bros.’ Leavesden Studios, with codenames and tight security used for location shoots across England.

The HBO reboot is scheduled to premiere in early 2027 with an eight-episode first season. Filming began last summer, and fans have already glimpsed scenes that go beyond the original stories. For example, the show will explore Draco Malfoy’s home life, offering perspectives not seen in the books or movies.

Additional updates include John Lithgow’s Dumbledore interacting with Nicolas Flamel and History of Magic lessons returning, featuring Richard Durden as Professor Binns. Johnny Flynn will play Lucius Malfoy, Draco’s father, appearing in the series before his storyline unfolds in the original timeline.

This leak gives a rare peek into the creative direction of HBO’s Harry Potter series. From the cozy, narrow streets of Diagon Alley to entirely new magical locations, it looks like fans are in for a mix of nostalgia and surprises.
