Amazon MGM Studios has locked in a new multi-year deal with filmmaker and showrunner Mike Flanagan. Under the agreement, Flanagan and his Red Room Pictures banner will develop and produce original TV series exclusively for the studio.

This partnership comes after Flanagan recently finished work on the Amazon TV adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie, marking his first project under the new deal. According to sources, the deal strengthens Amazon MGM Studios’ relationship with one of today’s most successful creators of genre content.

Flanagan has built a notable career in both film and television. In movies, he has written, directed, and produced titles like Stephen King adaptations Doctor Sleep and Gerald’s Game, as well as Ouija: Origin of Evil, Hush, Before I Wake, Oculus, Absentia, and most recently 2024’s The Life of Chuck, which won the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. He is also currently working on a new version of The Exorcist for Blumhouse and Universal Pictures.

In television, Flanagan has gained a strong following for creating, writing, directing, and showrunning acclaimed series such as The Fall of the House of Usher, Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Bly Manor, The Midnight Club, and The Haunting of Hill House.

This exclusive deal signals that Amazon MGM Studios is betting on Flanagan’s ability to continue delivering compelling, high-quality horror and thriller content.

This deal could lead to some of the most exciting TV projects in the next few years, especially for fans of horror and suspense. I’m curious what readers think—what kind of shows would you like to see Mike Flanagan create next? Share your thoughts in the comments.
