Tom Holland Reveals His Plan To Leave Hollywood
Actor Tom Holland says he may eventually step away from acting once he becomes a father. In a conversation with Men’s Health for its January/February 2025 issue, the 28-year-old star spoke openly about his long-term plans and how starting a family could change his life.
Holland explained that his career in big blockbuster movies may not last forever. He said that once he has children, his focus will likely shift away from the spotlight. “When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore,” he told the magazine.
He added the comment in a lighthearted way, joking that his future might become very simple. “Just golf and dad. And I will just disappear off the face of the earth.” The actor has been dating Zendaya since 2021.
She has also talked about how difficult it can be to raise children while living in the public eye. In an earlier interview with British Vogue, she said she hopes her future family can live a life that feels safe and private.
Zendaya said she would prefer a balance between work and personal life. “I want to pop out when I need to pop out for work and then just come back and live a normal life,” she explained, adding that she does not want to feel pressure to constantly share parts of her private life.
The couple first met while working on the Spider-Man: Homecoming series. Since then, they have often spoken about how working in the same industry helps them understand each other’s schedules and challenges.
During an appearance on the Dish podcast, Holland joked about one of the simple advantages of filming together. “Studios love it — one hotel room!” he said with a laugh. Then he spoke more seriously about their relationship and said that having Zendaya with him on set has been a big help. “She’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
Even though Holland talks about possibly leaving acting one day, his near future is packed with big projects. He is set to star in director Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie The Odyssey.
The film is based on the famous Greek story and is expected to arrive in theaters on July 17. Holland plays Telemachus and appears alongside actors like Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Zendaya.
Only a short time after that release, Holland will return as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The fourth solo Spider-Man movie, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on July 31.
The cast will include Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, and Jon Bernthal, and the story will follow Peter Parker dealing with a strange set of crimes in New York City. Holland is also expected to appear in the next major Marvel event film, Avengers: Doomsday, which is planned for release in May.
With several major movies coming out in the same year, the actor is likely to be everywhere on cinema screens in the near future. So while he talks about disappearing one day, his schedule shows that he is still very much at the center of Hollywood for now.
