Anne Hathaway was one of the biggest talking points at the 98th Academy Awards on March 15. Fans and critics noticed her youthful, glowing complexion as she walked the red carpet during the heavy promotion for her upcoming movie, The Devil Wears Prada 2.

The sequel picks up from the 2006 classic, which was inspired by a former assistant’s account of working for Vogue editor Anna Wintour. In a full-circle moment, Hathaway appeared onstage with Wintour to present the award for Best Costume Design.

The pair played up their connection, with Wintour giving her usual cool and slightly frosty take on Hathaway’s outfit. For the night, Hathaway wore a black, floral, strapless gown by Valentino. She paired it with opera-length gloves and Roger Vivier sandals with jeweled heels.

While her fashion drew attention, social media focused on her facial appearance. Many viewers on X (formerly Twitter) wondered if she had cosmetic work done, with some asking, “Has Anne Hathaway had plastic surgery?” Others suggested Botox or said she looked like a mix of other famous faces.

Despite the speculation, plenty of fans defended Hathaway, saying she looked amazing and that her face was still expressive. Her representatives haven’t commented on the rumors, but Hathaway has always been open about her skincare routine and healthy lifestyle, according to sources.

One of the funniest moments of the night came during Hathaway’s onstage chat with Wintour. After talking about the importance of costume design in films, Hathaway asked the Vogue editor for her thoughts on the Valentino gown. Wintour ignored the question and moved on to the nominees, sparking laughter across the Dolby Theatre.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to hit theaters on May 1 and brings back the original cast, including Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. The story follows Miranda Priestly as she deals with the decline of traditional magazine publishing, while Andy Sachs, Hathaway’s character, is now a features editor at Runway and finds herself back in Miranda’s orbit.

Hathaway also has a busy year ahead. In April, she stars in the A24 thriller Mother Mary as a world-famous musician facing a personal crisis. She will appear in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey in July opposite Matt Damon and in the sci-fi thriller Flowervale Street with Ewan McGregor.

Later in the year, she leads the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel Verity and is attached to Princess Diaries 3, which is still in early development. With five major films set to release this year, Hathaway is having a big professional moment while continuing to dominate the fashion scene.
