Stephen Amell is taking command of the next generation of lifeguards for the upcoming Baywatch. The 44-year-old actor, cast as Captain Hobie Buchannon, recently gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the cast and crew preparing for the reboot.

On Saturday, Amell shared a group photo with co-stars Shay Mitchell, Jessica Belkin, Noah Beck, and Thaddeus LaGrone. The cast gathered on the beach for a pre-production meeting to build chemistry before filming officially begins this week.

Amell also took time to acknowledge the crew working behind the scenes. “Every big story starts with the people you don’t see on screen. Proud to be in the trenches with this crew. Tomas and the whole team are the real deal. We start filming Monday,” he wrote to his followers.

Fans responded enthusiastically to the post. Noah Beck commented, “O captain! my captain!” while Jessica Belkin added, “let’s go hobie!” Livvy Dunne, the former gymnast turned media personality, shared her excitement for the upcoming shoot. Brooks Nader, who plays the rival lifeguard captain Selene, also chimed in with a supportive message.

This reboot continues the story of the classic Baywatch series, giving a grown-up version of Hobie Buchannon the spotlight. Selene’s character brings tension to the team. The official description explains, “While she is excellent at her job, she and Baywatch Captain Hobie Buchannon have a very different approach to saving lives that is a constant source of friction.”

Things get more complicated when Hobie brings his daughter, Charlie, played by Belkin, onto the team. “Never on good terms, their relationship only goes downhill after Hobie brings his daughter Charlie onto his team… and it becomes clear that their rivalry goes much deeper than lifeguarding,” the notes reveal.

Fans of the original series will also see a familiar face return. David Chokachi reprises his role as Cody Madison. “Heartthrob Cody Madison now runs The Shoreline, the unofficially official Baywatch bar-and-grill, and still puts on the red trunks for the occasional shift saving lives.

He’s a mentor and a friend, providing a second home for his fellow lifeguards — and always offering free wings after a big save,” the cast notes read. Amell has remained busy since his long run on Arrow, recently starring in the wrestling drama Heels and working on the legal spin-off Suits: L.A.

Shay Mitchell has balanced acting with business ventures, building her travel brand BÉIS while acting in Netflix’s You. Brooks Nader is making her scripted TV debut after a strong career in fashion and reality TV.

The production team plans to modernize the iconic rescue scenes while keeping the classic beach aesthetic alive. Filming will take place on the California coast throughout the summer, and the series is positioned as a flagship project for Fox’s upcoming broadcast season.

Fans are eager to see if the new reboot will match the iconic status the original held and how the new team brings fresh energy to a beloved classic while honoring the original Baywatch legacy.
