Fans in New York City got a surprise at a recent screening of Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. On Wednesday, March 18, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Elijah Wood, and Kathryn Newton all showed up to introduce the film and talk about it with the audience.

The event featured a lively Q&A where the actors shared insights about the sequel. The movie is set to hit theaters nationwide on March 20 through Searchlight Pictures. The story picks up right after the events of the first film.

Grace, the protagonist, quickly learns that the deadly game isn’t over. This time, she’s joined by her long-lost sister, Faith, as they face even more dangerous challenges. Grace must survive attacks from four powerful dynasties to earn a spot on the High Seat of the Council.

Samara Weaving returns in her role as Grace, joined by Shawn Hatosy, Nestor Carbonell, David Cronenberg, Kevin Durand, Maia Jae, Olivia Cheng, and Nadeem Umar-Khitab. New cast members Masa Lizdek, Varun Saranga, and Daniel Beirne also appear in this high-stakes story.

The film is directed again by the Radio Silence team, promising a mix of dark humor and thrilling action. Sarah Michelle Gellar’s role marks another chapter in her recent comeback in thriller projects.

She has also been working as a producer on several new TV dramas and was recently seen in Dexter: Original Sin. Elijah Wood has stayed busy with independent films and voice roles in animated series. Kathryn Newton continues to rise as a leading genre star after her work in Abigail.

Since its debut in 2019, the Ready or Not franchise has gained a dedicated fanbase for its unique take on the “final girl” story. This sequel expands the universe, exploring the shadowy forces behind the world’s most powerful families.

Fans are particularly excited to see the chemistry between Weaving and Newton as sisters fighting for survival. The addition of David Cronenberg in an acting role adds prestige to the project.

Searchlight Pictures is hoping this sequel will perform well at the box office and potentially continue building the franchise. The mix of gore, dark comedy, and social satire has made the series popular with audiences both in the U.S. and internationally.

The NYC screening was the final big promotional event before the film’s release. Early reactions from fans suggest the sequel is off to a strong start, with the cast’s surprise appearance only adding to the excitement.
