Arnold Schwarzenegger Reportedly Begins Brutal Training at 78 for ‘Conan the Barbarian’ Return
Arnold Schwarzenegger is getting ready to return to one of his most famous roles. At 78, he is reportedly training hard for a new Conan the Barbarian sequel. According to National Enquirer, Schwarzenegger is pushing himself in the gym as he prepares to play Conan again. A source told the outlet that his goal is to get back into strong shape for the role.
“The film depends on the former Mr. Universe really looking like a legendary barbarian-slash-king.” The Conan character first appeared on screen in 1982. At the time, Schwarzenegger was in his early 30s and still building his acting career. The film became a success and helped turn him into a major Hollywood name. He returned in a sequel in 1984 and went on to star in other big projects like The Terminator.
The new project, often called “King Conan,” has been talked about for many years. This version is expected to show an older warrior who is pulled back into action.
Reports say Schwarzenegger is following a strict routine and spending a lot of time training. He is said to still work out at the original Gold’s Gym Venice, a place closely linked to his bodybuilding career.
“That’s where he’s going to forge the body to take on this role again, come hell or high water! Failure is not an option.”
His fitness journey is not simple. Over the years, he has had several health issues. According to Men’s Health, he has dealt with injuries to his shoulder, knee, elbow, and hip. He has also had major surgeries, including a hip replacement and heart procedures, and now has a pacemaker.
Before Schwarzenegger was cast as Conan, other actors like Charles Bronson and Sylvester Stallone were considered for the role. However, everything changed after filmmakers saw him in the bodybuilding documentary Pumping Iron.
There was also a remake of Conan in 2011 starring Jason Momoa, but it did not perform well at the box office.
Now, decades later, Schwarzenegger seems ready to return once again. Even at 78, he is still focused on getting into shape and taking on physically demanding roles.
