Brenda Song (37) Calls Out Airline After Kids Were Split From Her and Macaulay Culkin (45) During Flight
What was supposed to be a fun birthday trip for Dakota Culkin turned into a public fight with an airline. Brenda Song, the actress known for her Disney Channel roles, shared her frustration on Instagram on March 21 after a problem with Alaska Airlines disrupted the family’s travel plans.
Song said that even though their first-class tickets were booked six months in advance, the airline gave the seats away on the morning of the flight. The last-minute change left her and her fiancé, Macaulay Culkin, separated from their two young sons, four-year-old Dakota and three-year-old Carson.
“I didn’t know when you book your first class tickets 6 months in advance for your family of six for your son’s birthday — @alaskaair can just give away your seats the morning of with no warning,” Song wrote. She added that she would never fly with Alaska Airlines again and advised others to avoid them.

Culkin showed his support by reposting Song’s message on social media, adding a bit of humor: “Hell hath no fury as a Brenda scorned…” The public complaint prompted a quick response from the airline. A representative called the situation unacceptable and issued a formal apology.
“Traveling can be stressful, especially with young children, and we pride ourselves on being a top airline for traveling families,” a spokesperson told TMZ. The airline confirmed they had reached out to the family to try to resolve the issue and make up for the difficult experience.
Fans quickly weighed in, mostly expressing support for the couple. Many were upset that minors could be separated from their parents. Others joked that the airline was unintentionally creating a real-life version of Culkin’s famous Home Alone movies.
Outside of the travel headache, the family has had a successful start to 2026. Earlier in March, Song and Culkin purchased a $10.3 million mansion in Sherman Oaks, formerly owned by Avril Lavigne. The 10,200-square-foot home includes a resort-style pool, private theater, and a large recreation area.
Song has also stayed busy professionally. She stars in the Netflix series Running Point, which premiered in late 2025, and appears in the film Operation Taco Gary’s. Culkin, meanwhile, recently finished a 14-city nostalgia tour and attended the Golden Globe Awards in January with Song, marking a rare red-carpet appearance for the couple.
Fans continue to hope for a formal Home Alone sequel after several viral fan-made trailers reignited excitement for the franchise this year. Even with the airline drama, Song and Culkin seem focused on family and their careers, making the best of their time together.
