Jenny McCarthy is setting the record straight about rumors suggesting her ex, Jim Carrey, was replaced by a body double. The 53-year-old shared her thoughts while attending the iHeartRadio Music Awards last week, dismissing the online speculation entirely. McCarthy, who dated Carrey from 2005 to 2010, insisted that the man seen at a recent French awards gala was genuinely the actor.

Rather than seeing a clone or imposter, she explained, the difference was simply how happy Carrey appeared. She told reporters, “He looked very happy at that award show. And I was happy for him.” McCarthy noted that his cheerful energy was what stood out the most to her.

She added, “That’s the first thing I noticed. I said, ‘Oh wow, Jim looks really happy.’” Her husband, Donnie Wahlberg, who attended the event with her, chimed in on the matter, saying that society often focuses too much on appearance instead of how someone feels.

Wahlberg pointed out that people tend to analyze faces rather than emotional states. “That’s the part that, sadly, people miss. We’re so obsessed with how he looks that we didn’t consider how happy he looked,” he said.

The rumors began after Carrey attended the Cesar Awards, where he received a lifetime achievement honor. Some viewers thought his facial features looked different and speculated that he might have been replaced. The situation gained extra attention when prosthetic artist Alexis Stone claimed they had created a mask used at the event.

Event organizers and Carrey’s representatives later confirmed that the appearance was real and had been planned months in advance. The actor has been enjoying a career comeback, particularly thanks to his role as Dr. Robotnik.

After the success of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in late 2024, it was confirmed that Carrey will return for Sonic the Hedgehog 4, which is set to premiere on March 19, 2027, with Idris Elba and Ben Schwartz reprising their roles.

Outside of acting, Carrey has spent more time in France focusing on painting and personal projects. McCarthy, meanwhile, continues as a judge on The Masked Singer, now airing its latest season on FOX.

Her appearance at the iHeartRadio Awards with Wahlberg also highlighted their long-standing marriage. The couple, married for over a decade, often supports each other’s media projects and remains one of the more prominent pairs in television.

As for Carrey, he seems happy to let his work speak for itself, focusing on upcoming roles and creative endeavors while enjoying a period of personal and professional contentment.
