Roseanne Barr recently opened up about a frustrating health setback that has made her rethink her medical choices. On a recent episode of The Roseanne Barr Podcast, the 73-year-old comedian explained that she had been planning to get a “ponytail facelift” to refresh her look. But her doctor told her that her heart is too damaged to safely have the surgery, and Barr was not happy about it.

“I’m so pissed because I’m like, ‘I need a new doctor,’” she said. “He’s always sending me to other doctors to check me out, and I’m like, ‘Why do I have to go find something wrong when nothing’s wrong?’ And then get in shape just so I can have surgery and die on the surgery table. I mean, well, it doesn’t make any sense.”

Barr made it clear that she has no interest in following more medical advice or preparing for complicated procedures. She said she would rather avoid the stress of surgeries and focus on living her life on her own terms.

“I would rather not get ready for any sort of surgery ever again in my life and just get a heart attack or a stroke and then just be put into a home. That is life: living in the hospice. That is where life is worth living, I’ve seen it,” she explained.

The comedian also shared her appreciation for end-of-life care, saying it focuses on comfort and pain relief. “They know you’re dying and they give you morphine,” she noted while joking about continuing her habits of smoking and drinking wine.

Barr has spent much of the last several years away from Hollywood, living on a 30-acre ranch in Texas. She left the television spotlight after 2018 and has stayed busy with her podcast, interviews, and managing her property.

She mentioned having a few minor injuries while clearing trees and operating machinery, but she remains committed to her independent lifestyle. Even though her former sitcom, The Conners, wrapped its eighth season in May 2025, Barr continues to follow current events closely, sharing her opinions on social media and in interviews.

For many, Barr’s blunt take on health and aging is a reminder of the bold personality she has maintained throughout her career. She continues to embrace her Texas ranch life while navigating serious medical concerns.
