A small change on Instagram has people talking about Britney Spears and her family again. Her oldest son, Sean Preston Federline, quietly updated his username and dropped his father’s last name. He now goes by “Sean P Spears” on the platform.
Fans were the first to notice the change. Soon after, several media outlets confirmed it. Before this, Sean had already been keeping things low-key online, using only his first and middle names. This new update feels more direct and personal.
The timing is important. The name change came shortly after Sean reunited with his mom at the end of March. Britney Spears shared photos from a yacht trip, where both of her sons were present. Her younger son, Jayden James Federline, has been around more often, but Sean has stayed more distant until recently.
In the photos, things looked relaxed and warm. Sean was even seen putting his arm around his mom. For many fans, that moment stood out because their relationship had been complicated over the past few years.
Back in late 2025, reports said Sean chose not to visit his mom during the holidays. He stayed in Louisiana instead, with other family members. Sources at the time said he wasn’t ready to reconnect yet, and that decision was hard for Spears.
Now, things seem to be changing. The reunion and the name update both suggest that their bond is getting stronger again. This comes during a stressful time for Spears. After her recent legal trouble in California, insiders told outlets that both Sean and Jayden reached out to support her. They have reportedly been spending time with her and checking in often.
One source close to the family explained the situation clearly, saying, “Her sons are with her right now. They love her and want to support her and just want her to feel better.” That kind of support seems to be very important for her right now.
At the same time, Spears still has big projects ahead. According to reports, Universal Pictures is working on a movie based on her memoir The Woman in Me. Director Jon M. Chu is attached to the project, though casting has not been announced yet.
She is also staying active online, sharing dance videos and personal thoughts with her followers. Even with everything going on, it looks like her main focus right now is her family, especially rebuilding her relationship with her sons.
