The first trailer for Mutiny is now out, giving audiences a look at the next action film led by Jason Statham. The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on August 21, 2026. The preview introduces a fast and direct story built around revenge and a dangerous mission at sea.

In the film, Statham plays a character named Cole Reed. He is a police officer who disappears from the usual system and ends up operating outside official channels. The trailer shows him boarding a large ship in the middle of the ocean while tracking down a group involved in human trafficking. His goal is simple. He wants to take them down.

Several moments in the trailer show Reed fighting through groups of armed men in tight spaces across the vessel. The character’s motivation is summed up in one line during the preview when he says “vengeance.” The film’s marketing also uses the tagline “Turn the Tide,” pointing to the ocean setting and the central conflict on the ship.

While much of the story appears to take place at sea, the footage hints that the movie will not stay entirely in one location. One brief scene shows Statham driving a car, suggesting the story will move beyond the ship at some point.

The project is directed by Jean-François Richet, who previously worked on the action film Plane. Early details suggest the movie will run for about 95 minutes, which is similar to many of Statham’s shorter, fast-paced action films.

Alongside Statham, the cast includes Jason Wong, Annabelle Wallis, Roland Møller, Arnas Fedaravicius, and Adrian Lester. Wong is confirmed to play a character named Taran.

The release of the trailer comes as Statham continues building his lineup of action projects. He is also expected to return for The Beekeeper 2, which is currently planned for a 2027 release.

The movie looks like a classic Jason Statham action film. The story seems simple, the setting is clear, and the focus is on intense fights and a single mission. Sometimes that kind of straightforward approach works well, especially for action fans who just want a tight and fast movie. The short runtime could also help keep the pace strong.

What do you think about Mutiny after seeing the first trailer? Does the story interest you, or does it feel like another familiar action setup? Share your thoughts in the comments.
