Jennifer Aniston has played many roles over the years, but there is one part she never got the chance to take. The actress shared that she once hoped to play Wonder Woman, a role that has defined several careers across decades.

She spoke about this while attending the Screen Actors Guild Awards, where she won for her performance in The Morning Show. During that moment, she admitted, “I wanted to be Wonder Woman,” and added, “But I waited too long.” The comment made it clear that even big stars can miss out on roles they really want.

The character of Wonder Woman has been around for a long time and has been played by different actresses. Cathy Lee Crosby first took on the role in a 1970s TV movie. Not long after, Lynda Carter became the face of the superhero in a popular TV show. Years later, the character returned to the big screen, with Gal Gadot playing her in modern DC films, starting with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Aniston’s timing never matched those moments. She was not at the right stage of her career when the earlier versions were made, and later on, she was no longer the right fit for the newer films. There was also a TV pilot at one point with Adrianne Palicki and Pedro Pascal, but that project did not move forward.

Even so, Aniston does not seem upset about it. She said she feels excited about her work now and is still finding new energy in acting. “I really, honestly, feel that I’m just kicking into a creative stride,” she said. “I’ve just discovered a new love of this in a new way that I didn’t know that I had before, so I almost have new eyes that I’m seeing what it is that I do as an actor.” Her focus now is clearly on what comes next, not what she missed.

The future of Wonder Woman is also uncertain. James Gunn is working on a new version of the DC universe, and the role has not yet been recast. One of the upcoming projects is Paradise Lost, a show set on the island of Themyscira before Wonder Woman’s story begins. It has been compared to Game of Thrones because of its focus on power struggles and politics.

At the same time, plans for another Wonder Woman film changed after Patty Jenkins stepped away from the sequel following new direction from DC leadership.

This story shows how much timing matters in Hollywood. Even someone as successful as Jennifer Aniston can miss out on a dream role. Personally, it’s interesting to imagine her as Wonder Woman, but it’s also clear she has built a strong career without it. What do you think? Would she have been a good fit for the role, or is it better the way things turned out? Share your thoughts in the comments.
