Nicole Kidman (58) Heads to Hospital After First ‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’ Shoot —Here’s What Happened on Set
Nicole Kidman’s first day on the set of Margo’s Got Money Troubles turned into a surprising behind-the-scenes story after she was taken to the hospital for an IV treatment immediately after filming her scenes.
The update comes from actor Nick Offerman, who spoke to PEOPLE about working with Kidman on the Apple TV+ series. Kidman plays Lace, a former professional wrestler who becomes a lawyer, and also serves as an executive producer on the show.
Offerman explained that Kidman’s first appearance in the series also doubled as her very first day of filming. The scene was a large setup involving a wrestling convention, a big crowd of extras, and multiple stunt performers. He described it as a major production day that required careful coordination.
At first, production faced uncertainty. Offerman said the team was told early in the morning that Kidman was very sick with the flu and might not be able to work that day. Because the shoot involved a large setup built specifically for that single day, it created pressure on the schedule.
Later that morning, the situation changed when word came that Kidman would still come to set. Despite being visibly unwell, she showed up and continued with the planned scenes.
Offerman described her condition at the time, saying she looked very weak and pale but still committed to completing her work. He said she pushed through the filming and made sure every required shot was finished, even with the physical demands of the scene.
According to Offerman, once filming wrapped, Kidman was immediately taken to the hospital for IV treatment due to how sick she was during the shoot.
He also spoke highly of her professionalism during the experience, saying, “She showed up so that your show doesn’t lose a minute of your value.” He added, “It was so generous. It was astonishing.”
Kidman has previously spoken about preparing for the role, including training for wrestling scenes. At the show’s New York premiere, she said she initially felt nervous about getting injured but eventually became more comfortable in the ring. She also said she enjoyed the experience and expressed interest in doing more wrestling roles in the future.
Margo’s Got Money Troubles is based on the novel by Rufi Thorpe and follows a young woman dealing with financial struggles after college while raising a baby. The series features Elle Fanning in the lead role, with Offerman playing her father and Michelle Pfeiffer playing her mother. The show also includes a large supporting cast and was created by David E. Kelley.
Episodes of the series are released weekly on Apple TV+.
From a wider view, this story highlights how demanding production schedules can be, especially for physically intense scenes like wrestling. It also shows how some actors push through illness to avoid delaying large-scale shoots. While that level of dedication is often praised, it also raises questions about pressure on performers during tightly scheduled productions.
