Fans Heartbroken as Netflix Ends Hit Show With 82% Rotten Tomatoes Score After Four Seasons
Netflix has confirmed that “The Night Agent” will come to an end with its fourth season, bringing the popular action series to a close.
The announcement was made on Monday, with production for the final season already starting in Los Angeles. The show, led by Gabriel Basso, has been one of Netflix’s major action dramas over the past few years.
Showrunner Shawn Ryan shared his thoughts in a statement about ending the series. He made it clear that the goal was always to finish the story in a strong way. He said, “Ever since the initial success of ‘The Night Agent,’ I’ve been obsessed with eventually delivering a proper and thrilling conclusion to the show and to Peter Sutherland’s journey.”
Ryan also thanked Netflix and Sony Pictures Television for their support throughout the show’s run. He added, “I’m so grateful to Netflix and Sony Pictures Television for partnering with me on ‘The Night Agent’ and for giving us the space to deliver a definitive final season to our worldwide legion of fans.” He also promised that the team is working hard to make the final chapter memorable, saying, “We are hard at work to complete our story and to make our final season one our fans will never forget.”
The decision to end the show comes shortly after Netflix renewed it for a fourth season in March. Over time, the series has filmed in several locations around the world, including Vancouver, New York City, and parts of Europe and Asia. For the final season, production has moved to Los Angeles.
While the show had a strong start when it first premiered, its viewership numbers have gradually dropped. The latest season saw fewer viewers compared to earlier ones and stayed on Netflix’s top 10 list for a shorter period.
Alongside Basso, the series features a large cast including Fola Evans-Akingbola, Amanda Warren, Louis Herthum, and others who have been part of the story across multiple seasons.
“The Night Agent” is produced by Sony Pictures Television, with Shawn Ryan also serving as an executive producer along with several others involved in the project.
The information comes from Netflix’s official announcement and statements shared by the show’s creator.
Ending a show like this at the right time can be a smart move, especially if the creators have a clear plan for the story. It’s better to wrap things up properly than stretch it too long.
