Amazon Warns Fans to Stay Away From ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Set as Filming Locations Leak
Filming for a popular young adult romance project is underway, and the studio behind it is now speaking out after increased fan activity around shooting locations has begun to disrupt production. The situation has sparked a wider conversation about privacy on sets and how far audience enthusiasm should go when a production is still in progress.
According to a post from Amazon Prime Video’s official social media account, fans have been showing up near filming sites and sharing details online since production started last month in North Carolina. The issue has become more noticeable as unofficial images of cast members have circulated, leading to online speculation about story details and character moments.
The upcoming film continues the story of a well-known series and will serve as its final chapter. It is based on the books by Jenny Han, who also created the television adaptation. The cast includes Lola Tung as Belly Conklin and Christopher Briney as Conrad Fisher, two central characters whose relationships have driven much of the story’s popularity since the show began.
In response to the growing attention around filming locations, Amazon Prime Video addressed viewers directly and asked for more restraint. The message was shared on X, where the company thanked fans for their enthusiasm but made it clear that visiting sets and posting locations online is causing problems for production.
The post said, “We love the excitement, but sharing locations and visiting set disrupts filming and creates real safety concerns for our cast and crew. We’re working hard to create a protected bubble to make the best movie possible. Please help us protect the magic of Cousins until it’s ready to be shared.”
The studio also included a short video alongside the message showing people writing “PRIVACY PLEASE” in the sand, reinforcing the request in a more visual way. This is not the first time Amazon has had to address fan behavior connected to the series, as past seasons also saw strong online engagement that sometimes crossed into real-world interference.
In earlier comments made after the show’s third season, Amazon’s TV leadership acknowledged the intensity of the fan response. Vernon Sanders, then head of Amazon TV, spoke about the need to guide audience expectations while still appreciating their support. He explained that the team wanted to avoid situations where enthusiasm turns into harassment or blurs the line between actors and fictional characters.
The series itself has become one of Amazon’s most successful youth-focused dramas since its debut in 2022. It follows a love triangle involving Belly and the Fisher brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah, played by Gavin Casalegno. The story has built a large global audience, with the most recent season drawing tens of millions of viewers within weeks of release.
After the final season aired, Amazon announced that the story would continue in film form, giving the narrative a final conclusion beyond the series. While the project had been teased for some time, production details remained limited until filming recently began.
With cameras now rolling, the studio is hoping for a smoother process going forward. For Amazon, the goal is to keep filming uninterrupted and allow the cast and crew to finish the project without outside disruptions, while still maintaining the strong fan interest that helped the series grow in the first place.
