Brendan Fraser is getting ready to return to one of his most famous roles, and the actor says the preparation is already proving to be a challenge. During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Fraser shared a new update on The Mummy 4 and confirmed that he is working hard to physically prepare for the action-heavy comeback.

The actor, now 57, joked about the pressure of stepping back into the role of adventurer Rick O’Connell after so many years away from the franchise. Fraser openly admitted that getting back into action-star shape is not easy, telling viewers, “I’m doing my best to get this 57-year-old gear in shape.” He also added, “Wish me luck,” while discussing the demanding process ahead.

Fans have waited years to see Fraser return to the franchise that helped turn him into a global star in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Universal has now officially set The Mummy 4 for release on May 19, 2028, with both Fraser and Rachel Weisz returning. Weisz is set to reprise her role as Evelyn O’Connell after missing the third film released in 2008.

While Fraser avoided revealing major story details, he hinted that the new movie plans to reconnect with the style and energy that made the original films so popular. He suggested the cast and crew will return to real-world filming locations instead of relying heavily on studio sets and digital environments.

Fraser also explained that the reunion is happening largely because fans never stopped asking for it. According to him, the creative team wants to bring back the spirit of the earlier movies and give longtime viewers the sequel they have wanted for decades.

The actor’s comments have already sparked excitement online, especially among fans who grew up with the original trilogy. Many viewers still consider Fraser’s version of Rick O’Connell one of the most entertaining adventure heroes of the modern era.

At the moment, plot details remain secret, but Fraser’s latest comments suggest the movie is aiming for a more classic adventure feel with practical locations, action, and the chemistry between the returning cast members.

This sounds like the right direction for The Mummy franchise. The original films worked because they mixed action, humor, adventure, and strong character chemistry instead of relying only on visual effects. Seeing Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz return together already gives the movie a huge advantage. What do you think about Fraser coming back for The Mummy 4? Are you excited for the sequel?
