The latest episode of The Boys shocked fans after Black Noir was brutally killed off during a violent fight with The Deep. The moment happened in season 5, episode 6, and actor Chace Crawford has now shared how emotional the scene was behind the scenes.

According to ScreenRant, Crawford opened up about filming the intense moment and explained that it felt strange knowing it would be one of his final scenes with co-star Nathan Mitchell, who plays Black Noir.

The deadly confrontation happened after tensions between the two characters kept growing throughout the season. In the episode, The Deep supports an oil pipeline project that later explodes and kills billions of sea creatures. Black Noir later admits he secretly caused the explosion as revenge for Adam Bourke’s death. After hearing the confession, The Deep completely snaps and stabs Noir with his own knife inside their recording studio.

Crawford said filming the scene felt very real from the moment they arrived on set.

“It was more of walking to set, like, ‘Man, this is crazy, dude. This is it,’” Crawford told ScreenRant. “And then when you’re in it, you’re like, ‘Okay, how do we make this look as real as possible?’”

The actor explained that seeing Mitchell put on the Black Noir costume for one of the last times made the situation hit harder emotionally.

“But watching Nathan put on the suit was the moment where felt real,” Crawford said. “Even opening up the scripts, we’re all in denial about those moments.”

He also praised stunt coordinator John Koyama for helping build the violent scene in a realistic way. Crawford revealed he originally wondered how The Deep could physically overpower Black Noir during the fight.

“John Koyama, our brilliant stunt coordinator, really had the beats laid out,” he explained. “It was great to stab him with his own knife, and then you see the blood pool out.”

Even though the scene was brutal, Crawford admitted it was difficult emotionally because of the friendship between the characters and actors.

“I just love that character, though, so it’s sad,” he said. “‘You’re not my bro. You were never my bro.’ I mean, that was just hard to deliver in general.”

The rivalry between The Deep and Black Noir had been building for several episodes. Their problems started after The Deep took credit for bringing Stan Edgar back to Homelander. Since then, both Supes constantly tried to embarrass and outdo each other.

Black Noir later blamed The Deep for ruining his dream of becoming a Broadway star after Adam Bourke was killed. That anger pushed Noir to destroy the pipeline, knowing it would deeply hurt The Deep because of his connection to sea life.

This version of Black Noir was introduced after the original character died in season 4. Over time, Noir and The Deep surprisingly became friends, but that relationship slowly fell apart because of jealousy and selfish decisions.

Now, fans are wondering what happens next for The Deep after killing one of the only people close to him. By the end of the episode, Homelander had already become even more powerful after being injected with V-One, making it unclear if he still needs the rest of the Seven around him.

With only two episodes left before the series ends, Black Noir’s death could completely change the future of the Seven. According to ScreenRant’s coverage, the fallout from the murder is expected to play a major role in the final episodes of the show.
