The post comes at an interesting time because Paul’s involvement in Invincible has already been a topic of confusion.

He previously voiced the character Powerplex, one of the show’s most emotionally intense figures, whose storyline ended in tragedy. The character’s arc showed him driven by revenge against Mark Grayson, building a suit that could absorb electricity, only for his actions to spiral out of control and lead to the accidental deaths of his own wife and child.

Because of how heavy that role became, Paul later explained that stepping back from the character was a personal decision. He said the experience of playing Powerplex affected him deeply and was hard to carry. As he put it in a past interview, “it was just way too grueling on my psyche” and he also described the role as “a skin I didn’t feel comfortable in.”

‘Invincible’ Creator Robert Kirkman Confirms Future Episodes Will Deviate From the Comics With New Storylines

On the production side, Invincible creator Robert Kirkman previously gave a different reason for why Paul was not continuing in the role. Speaking to RadioTimes, Kirkman explained that scheduling was a major issue in animation projects, especially when working with high-profile actors who have packed calendars. He noted that animation sometimes allows stories to stay closer to the original comic, but it also makes it harder to consistently secure actors for smaller or recurring parts.

Kirkman explained, “It’s really difficult because you can’t lock an actor in for animation and control their availability. So you’re kind of at the whim of whatever movie or television show or other thing that they’re doing.” He added that while Powerplex still exists in the world of Invincible, the character does not always have enough screen time to justify regular scheduling commitments.

Because of that background, Aaron Paul’s Instagram post has created uncertainty rather than confirmation. It is not clear whether the script he shared is connected to Powerplex, another character, or even a different project entirely tied to the Invincible universe.

For now, there is no official announcement confirming his return. Still, the timing of the post has been enough to get fans talking again, especially given how memorable and emotional his previous performance was in the series.
