Amazon’s upcoming Life Is Strange TV series is starting to look a lot more like the game fans remember. According to Variety, several major cast members have now joined the adaptation alongside previously announced stars Maisy Stella and Tatum Grace Hopkins.

The series is based on the popular Life Is Strange video game franchise and is currently in development at Amazon Prime Video. The story follows Max, played by Hopkins, a photography student who suddenly discovers she can rewind time. After saving her childhood best friend Chloe, played by Stella, the two become wrapped up in a mystery involving the disappearance of another student in their town.

Variety reports that Tom Cullen has officially joined the cast as Mark Jefferson, Max’s photography teacher. Fans of the original game will instantly recognize the character as one of the most important figures in the story. Leisha Hailey has also been cast as Joyce Price, Chloe’s mother, while Raúl Castillo will play David Madsen, Chloe’s strict stepfather. Owen Teague is stepping into the role of Frank Bowers, the local drug dealer who becomes tied to the central mystery.

The casting choices are already getting attention online because many fans believe the actors fit the game’s darker and emotional tone. The show appears to be staying very close to the original story from the first Life Is Strange game, which was released in 2015 and quickly became one of the most loved narrative games of its generation.

Tom Cullen is known for projects like House of the Dragon, Black Mirror, and Downton Abbey. Leisha Hailey is best known for The L Word and also has a long music career. Raúl Castillo has appeared in Looking, Army of the Dead, and The Walking Dead: Dead City. Owen Teague is recognizable from It, It: Chapter Two, and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

The series is being created by Charlie Covell, who will also serve as showrunner. Mackenzie Dohr is writing and executive producing the project. Karyn Kusama, known for films like Jennifer’s Body and Destroyer, will direct the first two episodes.

Prime Video first picked up the project in September 2025, and fans have been waiting ever since to see how the adaptation would handle the game’s emotional story and supernatural elements. The original game became famous for its mix of mystery, teen drama, and choice-driven storytelling, especially the relationship between Max and Chloe.

The official synopsis released with the casting news says Max discovers her time-rewinding powers while saving Chloe’s life. As they try to understand what is happening, they uncover secrets hidden inside their town. The deeper they dig, the more dangerous things become, eventually leading them toward an impossible decision.

With the main cast now expanding and production moving forward, the Life Is Strange adaptation is finally starting to feel very real for longtime fans of the games.
