‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff Breaks Records With Biggest Paramount+ Series Launch Ever
According to data reported by Paramount, the new Yellowstone spin-off Dutton Ranch has become the biggest series launch ever on Paramount+. The information comes directly from Paramount’s internal streaming figures, which track viewership during the first days after release.
The series premiered on May 15 with its first two episodes released at the same time. Within just seven days, those two episodes reached 12.9 million views. This makes it the strongest opening the platform has ever seen for a series launch. It also sets a new record for Paramount+ originals.
Before Dutton Ranch, the record belonged to the series Mobland, which launched in 2025 and reached 8.8 million views in its first week. That number is now clearly surpassed by the Yellowstone spin-off, showing how large the audience interest has become for Taylor Sheridan’s expanding TV universe.
Paramount also aired the same two episodes on its linear Paramount network as a special broadcast event. According to Nielsen data reported alongside the streaming numbers, those TV airings averaged 2.9 million viewers in total. This means the show performed strongly across both streaming and traditional television platforms at the same time.
Dutton Ranch continues the story of Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, two of the most popular characters from Yellowstone. The series follows them after the events of the Yellowstone finale. In the story, they leave Montana and try to start a new life in South Texas. However, their attempt to escape their past does not go smoothly, and they quickly find themselves facing new conflicts in a different environment.
The series stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser in the lead roles. The supporting cast includes Finn Little, Juan Pablo Raba, Jai Courtney, J.R. Villarreal, Marc Menchaca, Natalie Alyn Lind, Ed Harris, and Annette Bening. The cast brings together both returning familiar faces and new characters who expand the world beyond the original Yellowstone ranch.
Dutton Ranch was created by Chad Feehan, who also served as showrunner and executive producer for the first season. However, reports confirm that Feehan will not return for season two. The show is still based on characters created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, who remain executive producers on the project.

The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios. A large group of executive producers is attached to the project, including David C. Glasser, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Christina Alexandra Voros, Michael Friedman, Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, and Keith Cox. Voros also directed several episodes this season, along with Greg Yaitanes, Jessica Lowrey, and Phil Abraham.
The strong debut shows how powerful the Yellowstone franchise remains for Paramount+. Each new series connected to the universe has drawn large audiences, and Dutton Ranch continues that trend in a major way. With over 12 million views in its first week, it has set a new benchmark for what a streaming premiere can achieve on the platform.
The success also highlights how the Yellowstone world continues to expand beyond its original setting. By moving familiar characters into new locations and new conflicts, the franchise is keeping its audience engaged while also reaching new viewers who may not have watched the original series.
For Paramount+, this launch is an important milestone. It shows that big franchise storytelling is still a major driver of streaming success, especially when it comes from an already established fan base. With numbers like these, Dutton Ranch has quickly positioned itself as one of the most successful streaming premieres of the year.
