Spotted: ‘Masters of the Universe’ Star Camila Mendes Turns the Sidewalk Into a Runway in Midtown NYC
Camila Mendes has been seen stepping out in a sharp all-black look that mixes street style with a slightly futuristic edge.
The outfit centers on a fitted black zip-up top that works like a light jacket. It has a structured collar and a close fit that gives it a clean silhouette.
The sleeves stand out because they are made from a sheer mesh material that slightly extends over her hands, adding a soft contrast to the heavier fabric of the rest of the top. Small metallic or light-colored stud details run along the zipper line, collar, and hem, giving the piece a subtle but noticeable shine.
The combination of the structured outer layer and the more revealing inner piece creates a layered look that feels modern and bold without being overcomplicated.
She pairs the top with high-waisted black trousers that are tailored and slightly cropped above the ankle. The pants keep the outfit grounded and balanced, making the upper half of the look stand out more.
Her footwear follows the same simple color palette. Mendes is wearing black open-toe heeled mules or sandals that match the rest of the outfit without pulling attention away from it. She also adds chunky, dark rectangular sunglasses that give a strong street-style feel, especially when worn with the structured top.
To finish the look, she wears minimal jewelry. A thin chain necklace with a round metallic pendant sits at the center, adding just a small detail without distracting from the outfit’s overall shape and texture.
Mendes is currently promoting Masters of the Universe (internationally titled He-Man and the Masters of the Universe), a fantasy action film directed by Travis Knight. The movie is based on the well-known Mattel franchise and follows Prince Adam as he returns to Eternia and embraces his destiny as He-Man while facing off against Skeletor. Nicholas Galitzine stars as Prince Adam, with a cast that includes Jared Leto, Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Kristen Wiig, Morena Baccarin, and Idris Elba.

The project went through a long development process, shifting between studios and creative teams before landing at Amazon MGM Studios. Filming took place mainly in London from early to mid-2025. The film premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre on May 18, and is set for a theatrical release on June 5. Early reactions have described it as a mix of visual spectacle and classic fantasy storytelling.
Mendes’ current press appearances continue to draw attention not just for the film but also for her evolving promotional style, which leans into sleek, modern fashion choices like this all-black ensemble.
