With less than three weeks to go before one of DC Studios’ most anticipated films of the year touches down in theaters, Milly Alcock made a striking appearance at the Los Angeles special screening of ‘Supergirl,’ reminding the world that the Girl of Steel has very much arrived.

The event, captured and shared widely by Film Updates and Media Updates on social media, drew immediate attention, signaling the accelerating promotional push behind what is shaping up to be a pivotal moment for the rebooted DC Universe.

‘Supergirl’ is directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira, and follows Kara Zor-El as she reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an interstellar journey of vengeance and justice after a ruthless adversary strikes close to home. The film carries a reported budget of 170 million dollars and is set to be the second entry in DC Studios’ new DCU chapter, with Warner Bros. Pictures handling distribution.

Alcock, best known for her breakout turn in HBO’s ‘House of the Dragon,’ has spoken candidly about the weight she felt stepping into such an iconic role. Alcock admitted she struggled with impostor syndrome after being cast, saying, “I thought, ‘what have I done?’ I really struggled to believe I could do it. I even called the director saying ‘I don’t know how to be that person. I’m just me.'” She has since clearly found her footing, with the LA screening appearance projecting a confidence that suggests Kara Zor-El is in capable hands.

In a recent Empire interview, Alcock elaborated on what sets her character apart from her more famous cousin, explaining, “She’s such a good contrast to Superman, because she’s a survivor of trauma in the purest sense. I was excited to play someone so beautifully flawed and resilient.” That framing has become central to the film’s identity, with Gillespie promising a version of the character who is punky, edgy, and unpolished in ways that distinguish her from the optimistic heroics audiences saw in last year’s ‘Superman.’

Alcock stars as Kara alongside Jason Momoa, who plays Lobo, with the two leads navigating an interstellar adventure that also involves saving the beloved pup Krypto. The ensemble also includes Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, Matthias Schoenaerts as the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and David Corenswet reprising his role as Superman.

Kara is also confirmed to appear in the 2027 Superman sequel, ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ suggesting her arc within the broader DCU is only just beginning. For now, though, the spotlight belongs entirely to Alcock, whose presence at the LA screening underscores how much is riding on her performance. ‘Supergirl’ opens in theaters and IMAX across North America on June 26, with international audiences getting access beginning June 24.
