New Trailer Drops for ‘Lockbox’ — Carla Gugino and Lou Taylor Pucci Face a Chilling Horror Mystery
The first trailer for Lockbox has been released, giving viewers an early look at a new horror film led by Carla Gugino and Lou Taylor Pucci, and directed by The Last Exorcism filmmaker Daniel Stamm.
According to information shared by the film’s production team and promotional materials, Lockbox follows Ellen, a woman who moves to a quiet rural town after the death of her mother. She hopes to find peace and stability, but her plans change when she takes in her cousin Winthrop, who is deeply traumatized and struggling with disturbing behaviour.
At first, their new life together seems fragile but manageable. However, things begin to fall apart when a neighbour warns Ellen that Winthrop may be dangerous. Soon after, unexplained and increasingly frightening events begin to take place around them. Ellen is then forced into a situation where she must protect Winthrop, even as she starts to question what is really happening.
The story escalates into a fight against what appears to be an otherworldly force targeting Winthrop. Ellen becomes the only barrier between him and something that cannot be easily explained or understood.
The film is directed by Daniel Stamm, known for The Last Exorcism. The screenplay comes from Emmy-winning playwright Justin Yoffe and is based on the Knifepoint Horror podcast, specifically the episode titled The Lockbox by creator Soren Narnia. The adaptation brings the podcast’s tense and minimal storytelling style into a feature-length horror film.
Carla Gugino, known for Gerald’s Game, leads the cast as Ellen. Lou Taylor Pucci, known for Evil Dead, plays Winthrop. The supporting cast includes Donald Sales, Jason William Day, Jason McKinnon, Roman Kinsella, Aedan Edwards, Darcey Johnson, Lee Tichon, Jecca Beauchamp, and Kenny Wood-Schatz.
The film is produced by Kearie Peak of Peak Pictures alongside Capstone Studios. AURA Entertainment is handling the theatrical release in the United States. The project continues the growing trend of adapting popular horror podcasts into feature films, expanding their stories for the big screen.
Production notes also confirm that Lockbox is part of a wider wave of Knifepoint Horror adaptations. Another project titled Fiona is already in development. That film is a witch-themed horror story starring Maggie Grace and directed by Nicholas McCarthy. Like Lockbox, it will also be released theatrically in the U.S. by AURA Entertainment before heading to streaming.
Lockbox is expected to appeal to fans of psychological and supernatural horror, especially those familiar with the podcast that inspired it. The trailer highlights a tense, atmospheric style that focuses on fear, isolation, and uncertainty as the central characters are pushed into increasingly dangerous territory.
