‘Stranger Things’ Star David Harbour Addresses Millie Bobby Brown Complaint Rumors, Says They “Still Adore Each Other”
David Harbour has addressed the recent rumors surrounding his relationship with Millie Bobby Brown, making it clear that there is no real conflict between them and emphasizing the long bond they share after years of working together on Stranger Things.
The comments come after reports claimed Brown had allegedly filed a harassment and bullying complaint against Harbour before filming the final season of the Netflix series. Brown later publicly pushed back on the idea of any issues, saying she felt safe working with him and describing their long-running collaboration in positive terms.
In a wide-ranging interview with Variety, Harbour directly responded to the speculation and insisted that whatever tension people online believed existed was not reflective of reality. He pointed to the long working relationship they built over nearly a decade playing father and daughter on screen.
He explained that working so closely for so many years naturally comes with moments of disagreement, but said those are normal and not signs of lasting problems. According to Harbour, the situation was resolved through simple communication between the two.
“It was just a simple rupture-and-repair thing that, once we cleared everybody out of the way and talked to each other, we’re fine,” he said. “Everyone nowadays is very scared of talking about things. People are very scared of being human. It’s unfortunate, because I don’t know how to navigate this weird media world. But it was completely normal, and we adore each other and always have.”
Harbour also emphasized that their connection goes beyond typical co-star relationships because they essentially grew up together on the show. Brown joined Stranger Things as a child, and their characters’ emotional father-daughter dynamic carried over into years of on-set collaboration.
He described the bond as something built through shared creative work and time, saying that public narratives often misunderstand how long-running productions actually function behind the scenes. In his view, intense schedules, pressure, and emotional scenes can sometimes lead to friction, but that does not erase respect or affection between actors.
Brown has also spoken positively about Harbour, noting that their relationship evolved over the course of the series and became more collaborative as she grew older and more experienced in the industry. She highlighted that working together for so long created a lasting professional and personal connection.
Harbour stressed that the idea of a serious falling out does not match his experience. Instead, he described a relationship that has remained steady even through occasional disagreements, calling it something closer to a long-term creative partnership than a conflict.
Despite the media attention around the rumors, Harbour made it clear that his focus remains on the work and on moving forward after the end of Stranger Things. He suggested that public speculation often distorts normal human interactions into something more dramatic than they really are.
At the core of his message was a simple point: whatever noise surrounds the story online, his connection with Millie Bobby Brown remains intact, grounded in years of collaboration and mutual respect.
